McKinley Park Acres Hidden Trail, Tower, MN

Earlier in August, 2004 I took a ride on a little known mountain bike trail that's been around for quite a long time in the far north of Minnesota.

Part of the trail occupies some land off of a MUT trail, crossing over the old DM&IR right of way and culminating near the town of Tower, Minnesota.

Late last year this trail's status became somewhat in jeopardy since the far end had been cleared out and large boulders were put in place (largely to prevent access by ATV vehicles). It was obvious construction was happening at this site. On this ride I found that a home was being built - an old bike was leaning against the new house being built, and an ATV was parked outside. Weird. I found an alternative exit for the trail that the main trail users concocted which exits near the town dump!

This summer I rode the trail and determined to take photos to document the trail before it became unrideable. I was happy to find an alternate exit so the trail apparently is still rideable - for now.
