On Saturday, August 28, 2004 we visited the Milaca City Mountain bike trails which were sponsored by the folks who run the Blast Racing Series.
Prior to starting on the trails themselves, Paul and I ended up riding on a wooden obstacle placed in the basketball court for skateboarders.
I went up this thing half a dozen times without incident until..
Due to a weird accident I ended up falling off of this obstacle, straight down and went over the bars.
If you can imagine the front tire going right over the edge at the highest point of the ramp and the rear tire being the top of the bike you get the idea. I'm still not quite sure how I landed but I heard gasps from everyone in the immediate area when it occurred.
I could have been pretty seriously hurt. How I managed to spring to my feet with some minor bruises and a broken reflector and scratched shifter cover I'll never know.
I think my new Camelbak cellphone holder protected my left shoulder from getting banged up. Anyway, thank you broken reflector and also to the Camelbak folks.
